World Upholstery & Trim manufactures "cut and bound" carpet sets that will allow you to replace all the original carpet in your BMW 02 Series Sedans (E10). "Cut and bound" carpet sets essentially pre-cuts the carpet material based on the original layout of the carpet being reproduced to allow for easy installation. The visible edges of the carpet are bound in matching or contrasting vinyl. We can manufacture these carpet sets using either the original carpet material (usually imported), other imported carpet materials or a more economical domestic (American) carpet material. As with any soft trim, some trimming may be required and while this can easily be installed by an amateur restorer, we still recommend professional installers.

Carpet F.A.Q.s

The different models of 2-door Sedans mostly had the same chassis only with different engines and trimmings. This is why most of them used the same carpet pattern. From 1966 to 1974, the carpet where "cut and bound" like most BMW carpets at that time. In 1975, BMW switched to using molded carpet for almost all of their cars. The chasis still did not change so the old "cut and bound" would still fit in perfectly.

The trunk of the E10 did not have any carpet orginally. It only had grey trunk panels that cover the spare tire underneath. World Upholstery and Trim made has produced a trunk carpet mat (made of the same carpet material as the interior) that goes on top of those trunk panels, giving your trunk a cleaner look and a cleaner place to put stuff on your trunk.

The "Touring" version of the 2002 had extra carpet on the back and we have a separate set for that. The interior carpet in the Touring is the same as the sedan.

These kits are "made-to-order" meaning we do not keep them in stock and are placed in the production line only when an order is placed. German Loop (wool blend) was the original standard carpet material used in the BMW 2002 Series (E10) cars. German Squareweave (100% wool) was the upgrade that was offered back then and a popular option even now. Nylon Loop is the budget friendly alternative that we offer.
