BMW E3 sedans has 5 known seat styles regardless of what year they were made. The rear seats, if the upholstery is authentic, should match the style of the front seats. The best way to identify which seat style your E3 has is to answer these questions:

   a.) Does your seat have a "horseshoe" pattern?
   b.) If yes, is it in the cushion, backrest or both?
   c.) If no, does the insert go all the way or not?

"Horseshoe" Pattern

Embossed Inserts

Question "b" should lead to 3 different styles and question "c" leads to 2 more. The "cushion" is the part that you seat on and the "backrest" is the part that you lean on. For question "c", either the inserts go all the way to the front and top edges or there are plain rectangular areas ("pillows") on both edges.

The unique embossing found in the inserts of E3 seats are only available for vinyl seat kits. Leather seat upholstery will come with plain inserts. Most original E3 sedan seats were upholstered in vinyl and only a rare few came in leather.

These front seat kits includes all the seat cover parts necessary to completely replace the original seat upholstery of both front seats. The headrest covers and back panel covers are included. These seat kits can be manufactured using either BMW Vinyl or BMW Leather. There were also many different styles of headrest covers regardless of the seat cover style. There are 3 questions that we need answered for us to be able to identify which style of headrest we need to make:

   a.) Do you have side posts or bottom posts?
   b.) Do you have 3-pc or 5-pc headrest covers?
   c.) Is it embossed or plain?

The pre-sewn seat covers are designed for easy installation and will not require sewing of any kind. The seat kits do not include any other seat parts like seat pads, seat frame and other miscellaneous hardware. Those parts must be re-used, fixed or replaced during installation. The seat covers are designed to be installed on original seat parts and thus for best results, it may be necessary to fix or replace worn out or damaged seat parts especially the old seat pads that are almost guaranteed to have shrunk or damaged due to use and time.

These seat kits can easily be installed by an amateur restorer. But due to other factors, like removal of the old seat upholstery and possible replacement or re-padding of the old seat pads, we still highly recommend the use of professional installers. These kits are "made-to-order" meaning we do not keep them in stock and are placed in the production line only when an order is placed. Depending on how busy the production line is (varies seasonaly), it can take 7-10 business days before it can be manufactured and shipped. Make sure to add shipping time when calculating the number of days it will take for the seat kit to reach you.

Each front seat style has a corresponding rear seat style. We have arranged the different rear seat styles in the same order as the front seats to make it easier for you to choose. All rear headrests (if you have them) have bottom posts even if you have side posts for the front headrest. If original, they should match the style of the front seat headrest (same piping and embossing) except a little fatter.

These rear seat kits have all the necessary seat covers to completey replace your rear seat's upholstery including the center armrest and headrest covers (depending on if originally included). These kits can be manufactured using either BMW Vinyl or BMW Leather. Like the front seats, only the vinyl versions have embossings while the leather ones have plain inserts.
